A 90-MINUTE WORKSHOP WITH CATHERINE STRATTON
Submitting to Literary Journals: Getting Your Work Published
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17th AT NOON EST
Sometimes we writers forget that our work is meant to be shared. The best writing makes the personal universal—that’s why you need to get your work out there. Enter literary journals.
The number of literary journals has ballooned in the past fifteen years. Currently there are over 3,000 and, though this has opened up additional opportunities for writers who seek publication, it has also made the submission process confusing, daunting, and, ultimately, time consuming.
In this workshop I will share tips and shortcuts that writers can use to find and to submit to the literary journals best suited to the content, format and style of their writing. Rejections are a given, but there are ways to make the submission process work in our favor. This presentation will show you how.
Here's what you'll learn:
- Shortcuts for finding and choosing publications that fit a writer’s genre, content, style and format
- Resources that will help writers in their search
- Tips that will increase the odds of publication
- Best practices for cover letters and document formatting
- Examples of literary journals of interest to participants.
