A  60-MINUTE WORKSHOP WITH SUSANNA DANIEL

The 10-step Revision Strategy

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14th AT NOON EST

So you've written a novel or memoir—now what? Richard Russo writes the first two-thirds of each novel “about 17 times” and the last third a few times. Robert Boswell says he writes 30-50 drafts of every short story. Revising is a skill separate from—and in some ways more sophisticated than—drafting fresh material.

Doing a line edit without reimagining your story’s shape and structure might not amount to much, whereas a smart, deep revision can elevate a piece of writing at the level of meaning and substance. That said, after you've put in the time and effort to write your draft, diving into revision can feel overwhelming. We'll walk through a 10-Step Revision Strategy that applies to memoirs, novels, essays, and short stories, and will not only keep you moving forward, but also make the revision process *fun.*
