A 90-MINUTE WORKSHOP WITH LIZ ALTERMAN
Ready to write your memoir? Here's how to begin
MONDAY, APRIL 21st 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. EST
Everyone has a story to tell but figuring out where to begin and how to tell it well can be challenging. Join Liz Alterman, author of the memoir Sad Sacked, for a 90-minute workshop in which you'll identify your memoir's overarching theme and explore emotional stakes, characters, setting, and structure. We'll also talk about that dreaded beast called "platform" and discuss how to start making a name for yourself. This class will help you shed the fear that's been holding you back and inspire you to begin.
Here's what you'll get from this interactive workshop...
- AÂ clear idea of what makes a truly memorable memoir -- one that reads like fiction
- Insight into different paths to publishing and how to think about each as well as their intended audience
- How to overcome hurdles such as procrastination, writing about real "characters," and dialogue
- How you can establish your platform as you're drafting
- Resources that can help you beyond this workshop
- A handout that summarizes the main points of the workshop.
