This workshop will cover specific essay essentials, the various forms, and how an idea can become a longer piece. We'll explore what an essay is, find what we're trying to say, and learn how we can say it. We'll find inspiration together, and students will leave with the confidence to write their stories.

Meet your instructor

Natalie Serianni

Natalie is a Seattle-based writer, instructor, and mother of two with work at the New York Times, HuffPost, Scary Mommy, Insider, ParentMap, Brevity, Motherwell, and Mutha Magazine, among others. She teaches personal essay classes at The University of Washington and Hugo House. She's currently working on a manuscript that explores midlife parenting and long-held grief.Ā
